My company is in dire need of some marketing support. We have been approached by a marketing group who has contacts in our field and they have set a specific number for three months worth of services (includes money for packaging, advertising, etc.). How much on average should a company invest into marketing?
So far, thank you for the help. Is there an available number value for a small business trying to sell a product in Home Depots and Lowes?

Should I finish my Marketing Degree or start all over again and go for a degree in a subject that I love?
Sunday, August 15th, 2010I started on a Marketing degree and now regret it. I have always loved to read and write and now I’m thinking of switching majors and going for an English degree. Thing is I’ve invested money in my Marketing classes and none of them apply to the English curriculum. I would end up spending MORE money and MORE time if I switch over. Should I just finish up my Marketing degree and possibly get a minor in English or Masters in English?
Who has experience with network marketing and taxes?
Friday, August 13th, 2010I received a 1099 from my network marketing company for commissions and overrides. I also received a statement from them called Taxable Income REcap that shows how much I spent on Purchasing Products. You buy products at wholesale and sell them at retail. The difference is your income or "right now" money. This money is not easily tracked because they can’t tell how much you sold at full cost, how much you sold at discounts and how much you kept for personal use or as gifts to further your business. Do I need to somehow claim this on my taxes as income or should I just claim what was noted on my 1099? There is also a box on my 1099-MISC form that is checked that says "Payer made direct sales of 00 or more of consumer products to a buyer (recipient) for resale." Does this relate to me or is this the company just saying that I bought more than 00 worth of stuff to sell as I see fit? Anyone have any experience with this on their federal taxes?
What are the pros and cons of a career in marketing?
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010I am getting a degree in marketing. I am also thinking of switching to an accounting degree. I am trying to get the pros and cons of both. This question is for the marketing side.
What is a career in marketing like (small or big firms)? What is the money like? How is the demand? Is there a lot of travel? Other advice.
Thanks.

How can I get into a Marketing position at a large company or marketing firm without a marketing degree?
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010I have all the talent to get into marketing. Been an Interior Designer for 6 years so I’m very creative and present well. I have been in Outside Sales for 4 years so I know a lot about the consumer end and business of selling.
My personality is very outgoing. I am just having the hardest time trying to bust into a company without some Marketing degree or at least a marketing course of some kind.
I wish I could go back to school but I can’t. I have no money or time with the job I have now.
Cheers!
